Metal Braces

Metal Braces

Metal bracesFor many years, fixed metal braces have been the orthodontic treatment of choice. It’s not really surprising, considering the durability and effectiveness of braces.

But in the past, many people opted not to get braces due to the awkwardness and discomfort of having metal wires and brackets in the mouth. Fortunately, this is no longer a problem today.

Smaller Brackets
In the early 1900s, each individual tooth needed to be wrapped with metal bands for orthodontic treatment. Even in the 80s and 90s the brackets were still pretty big. Today, the brackets for metal braces have shrunk considerably and they’re hardly noticeable.

Thinner Wires
It’s easier for us to work with thinner wires and they also make braces more comfortable to wear.

Colorful Bands
You can choose your favorite color or change the color of the bands every month!

Shorter Treatment Time
In the past, orthodontic patients needed to wear braces for several years in order to align their teeth properly. But today, patients will only wear braces for 12-24 months on average. There are even products that can help speed up the treatment time even more.

Less Discomfort
With thinner wires and smaller brackets, modern metal braces are no longer as uncomfortable as before. They also don’t put a lot of pressure on the lips and the insides of the cheeks.

It’s also worth mentioning that modern braces are very reliable and efficient in straightening the teeth. With a lower profile, they are a lot less visible as well.

Modern metal braces can be used to correct a wide range of orthodontic issues, from simple to complex cases. If you are considering orthodontic treatment, please schedule a consultation so we can discuss your best options according to your needs.
